Andrew A. Ross, 89, of Hazen Street, died Saturday evening, August 28, 2010 in New Castle. He was born June 27, 1921 in New Castle, a son of the late Thomas and Clare (Giancola) Ross. He was married to Mary (Giancola) Ross who died February 8, 2010. Mr. Ross was a machine operator at the Johnson Bronze retiring after 40 years. He then worked for City Glass for 15 years as an installer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific, and he was a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion. Mr. Ross played the clarinet and was a band chaperone for the New Castle Red Hurricane Band for 51 years. He received two citations from the band for his dedicated service over the years. Mr. Ross enjoyed music, playing in the Blue Coat Band, and was an avid New Castle High School and Pittsburgh sports fan.

He is survived by three sons, Paul G. Ross and his wife Toni of New Castle, Jeffery A. Ross and his wife Jennifer of Lawrenceville, GA, and Drew A. Ross and his wife Annette of New Castle, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son Thomas Ross, and his brother, Thomas Ross.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph the Worker Church. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home Tuesday night.
