Daniel J. Szewczyk, 94, of Woodland Place in Mercer, PA, formerly of New Castle, died Thursday morning, November 23, 2006 at Woodland Place in Mercer, Pennsylvania. He was born April 18, 1912 in New Castle, Pennsylvania a son of Frank and Rose Szewczyk. His parents precede him in death. Mr. Szewczyk was married to Anna (Frank) Szewczyk who died on May 18, 1995. Mr. Szewczyk worked at the Crane Company in New Castle retiring after a number of years. He was a regular member of the Casimir Pulaski Club and an avid fisherman.
He is survived by 2 sons, James Szewczyk of New Castle, PA and Larry Szewczyk of Mt. Jackson, PA, 2 brothers, Floyd Sedwick and Stanley Sedwick, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Matilda Tewell, aka Tillie Tool.
A Blessing Service will be held Friday, November 24, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
