Michael C. Glorioso, Sr.

Michael C. Glorioso, Sr., 89, of Old Butler Road, Shenango Twp., died peacefully, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford. He was born August 25, 1921 in New Castle, a son of the late Luigi and Luigia (Crisone) Glorioso. He married Louise Rose (Fonzeno) Glorioso on November 23, 1946, she died July 17, 1992. Mr. Glorioso was a self-employed contractor and owner and operator of Glorioso Builders for over 50 years. He was a wood craftsman and made beautiful furniture, he also constructed four trolley cars for the city of Galveston, TX, which are still in use today and helped to manufacture a computer test car for General Electric. Mr. Glorioso also went to the Bahamas after Hurricane Andrew and help in the rebuilding effort. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines, he received numerous medals for his service. Mr. Glorioso was a member of St. Vitus Church, and the Holy Name of the church. He was a past Man of the Year and past president of the Holy Name. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of their Honorary Guard. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar, and loved dancing and line dancing, photography and filming family movies.

He is survived by three daughters, Carmie Gennock and her husband Chris of Fresno, CA, Michele Glorioso of Sacramento, CA, and Lisa Glorioso Donaldson and her husband Ray of Atlanta, GA, two sons, Michael C. Glorioso, Jr. and Louis Glorioso, both of New Castle, one brother, Joseph Glorioso of New Castle, three sisters, Angeline Staph of California, Clara Venditto of Dayton, OH, and Anna Marie Iafrat of Grand Blanc, MI, seven grandchildren, Michael, III, Arin, Nicholas, Justin, Jonquil, Tory, and Denny, and two great grandchildren, Dillon and Gianni.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Glorioso, and one brother, Carmen L. ‘Chuck’ Glorioso.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. The New Castle Area will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home Friday at 7:45 P.M. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens.
