James C. McFarland, 81, of Uber Street, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born November 26, 1929 in New Castle, the son of the late Elizabeth (McFarland) Germick. He married Dolores Marie (Cutri) McFarland on September 8, 1951, she survives in New Castle. Mr. McFarland was a PBX Installer for Bell Telephone Co. of PA for 31 years and AT&T retiring after 5 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the U.S.S. San Marcos. Mr. McFarland was a life member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge of the Craft #433 and a member of the New Castle Consistory, was an Usher at the New Castle Playhouse and Head Usher at Epworth United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was also a former member of the New Castle School Board for 10 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynda Beth McFarland of South Park, PA, Connie Fiorante and husband Sam of New Castle, one son, James J. McFarland and his companion Staci Norris of New Castle, and four grandchildren, Andrew, Samuel, Mathew, and Kylee Fiorante.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. and 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Rex Wasser of Epworth United Methodist Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Entombment will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites at the cemetery.
