Mafalda 'Muffie' Marcella

Mafalda ‘Muffie’ Marcella, 91, of Martin Street, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at her home in New Castle. She was born October 19, 1919 in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Chipani) Spinosi. She was married to the late Paul Marcella who died October 7, 1999. Mrs. Marcella was a Hearing Specialist for the Unemployment Compensation Board in Western Pennsylvania. She was then an Administrative Secretary for St. Francis Hospital, the Villa Maria and the New Castle Redevelopment Authority. Mrs. Marcella was a member of St. Vitus Church, St. Francis Retirees and the DOF Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Paulette Marcella of New Castle, Mary Ellen Chester and her husband James of Pittsburgh, and Claire Renee Marcella of New Castle, one son, David Marcella and his wife Andrea of Sumter, SC, one sister, Ann Polito of Columbus, OH, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Ralph Spinosi, and one sister, Carol Jerson.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery.
