Nickie Orras

Nickie Orras, 78, of 1580 Frew Mill Rd., New Castle, died Thursday morning, January 11, 2007 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born December 14, 1928 in Mansfield, Ohio a son of the late Louis and Katherine (Shack) Orras. He married Lottie B. (Baxter) Orras in June of 1983, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Orras retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service, working in supply. Mr. Orras was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service he received numerous medals, including the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the Bronze Star for Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Orras was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by, three step-daughters, Cindy Bucey, Melody Lovaglio, and Mrs. Gary (Jodi) Hartle all of New Castle, PA, two step-sons, Jack Bucey and Gregory Bucey both of New Castle, PA, one brother, George Orras of Orlando, FL, one sister, Mary Liddle of Warren, MI and two step-grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Julius Orras and Johnny Orras and one step-grandson.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A Blessing Service will be held Monday, January 15, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Field Cemetery in Mt. Jackson, PA.
