Phyllis J. Sarbo, 58, of 510 W. Cherry St., New Castle, died Saturday evening, January 27, 2007 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was born July 11, 1948 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the daughter of Augustine and Nicholas ‘Nancy’ (Gangliero) Leone. Her father precedes her in death, her mother survives in New Castle. She married William E. Sarbo on November 11, 1968, he survives in New Castle.
Mrs. Sarbo was a graduate of New Castle High School and the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation from the University of Pittsburgh she held various positions with the university and with Carnegie Mellon University. She was formerly an Admissions Officer for International Students and was currently working for the Pitt Program Counsel. Mrs. Sarbo was an avid Pitt Football and Basketball fan and a member of the St. Vitus Church. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by, two sons, Christian J. Sarbo of Altoona, PA and William K. Sarbo of New Castle, PA, two brothers, Jack Leone and his wife Nancy of Grove City, PA and Augustine Leone, Jr. of New Castle, PA, four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Maria and Angelo, and two nephews, Anthony & Nicholas Leone both of Grove City, PA.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from 5 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Pierre G. Sadini, S.T.L. of St. Michael's Church, Avella, PA will be officiating. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 am. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Mausoleum.
