Joshua ‘Josh’ Massaro, 76, of Oakwood, GA, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, February 9, 2007 in Hoshton, GA. He was born April 18, 1930 in New Castle, PA a son of Joseph and Lucia (Daralano) Massaro, Sr., his parents precede him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years of marriage, Caroline (Orrico) Massaro. He was loved by all and will be truly missed. He was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and also taught Sunday School Class and Sang in the Choir. He loved life to the fullest and always had a scripture for any situation. He was a Lay Minister and also formed Care Ministries that included him doing speaking and singing engagements all over. He sponsored and participated in many foreign mission trips. In the early 50’s he became a Masonry Contractor with his brother Carmen Massaro and later became Massaro and Massaro Incorporated that focused on commercial construction and real-estate development in New Castle, PA and surrounding areas. Mr. Massaro then moved to Georgia with his wife and family and then later formed Masssaro Corp General Contractors with his son Alan Massaro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Alan Josh Massaro and his wife Kelly (Reynolds) Massaro of Flowery Branch, GA, one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Massaro Krueger, three brothers, Carmen, Amos and Domenick Massaro all of New Castle, PA, three sisters, Mary Barbella and Josephine Barber both of New Castle and Pauline Fiorelli of Delray Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Nicole A. Massaro, Julie M. Massaro and Ally M. Massaro, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gary Richard Massaro, his brother, Joseph Massaro, Jr. and a granddaughter at birth.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home Chapel in Flowery Branch, GA. Rev. Jeff Cook, Rev. Doc Horton and Rev. Dennis Massaro will be officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery in Flowery Branch, GA. In lieu of flowers the family would request contributions sent to: Barnabas Ministries, 132 Roger Williams Ave., Rumford, RI 02916. Local arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
