Alexander A. Quear, Sr.

Alexander A. Quear, Sr., 70, of Elmwood Street in Union Township, died Thursday, October 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born in New Castle on March 12, 1953, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Copple) Quear. Mr. Quear married Kathy R. (Duncan) Quear on March 30, 1974, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Quear worked for Fulena Paving as a welder and mechanic, and then City Welding where he was also a welder, retiring after 40 years. Mr. Quear was a member of Holy Spirit Parish- St. Vitus. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing poker and horseshoes. Above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by five children, Alexander A. Quear, Jr., and his wife Denise of New Castle, Shawn C. Quear and his wife Vickie of New Castle, Nikkole L. Davis and her husband Kevin of Ellwood City, Echoe C. Quear of New Castle, and Daniel A. Quear of New Castle, five grandchildren, Brooke Rigotti, Samantha Davis, Olivia Davis, Christopher Kale, and Abigail Davis, one brother, Thomas Quear, and three sisters, Nancy Haybarger, Angela McAllister, and Mary Jo Nestasie and her fiancé, Tim DeSalvo.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Quear, one sister, Jessie Ann Quear, and four grandsons, Wayne Quear, Casey Quear, Alexander Quear, III, and Matthew Davis.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
