Andrew Thomas Piccuta, 95, of Crow Street, Shenango Township, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at his home. He was born September 11, 1923 in New Castle, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Augustine) Piccuta. He was married to Nicolina ‘Nikki’ (Razzano) Piccuta on August 26, 1950, she survives in Shenango Twp. Mr. Piccuta was an elementary teacher for the New Castle Area Schools retiring after over 30 years. He was a Shenango Township Supervisor for 14 years and was auditor and on the planning commission of the township. Mr. Piccuta was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe and he received the French Legion of Honor Medal. He was a member of the Shenango Lions Club and St. Joseph Church and was a Eucharistic minister, usher and alter server at the church. He also enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Mary L. Gay and her husband Gary of New Castle, Andrew G. Piccuta of New Castle, and Michelle McCormick and her husband John of New Castle, five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Anthony, John, Lee, Albert and Daniel Piccuta.
Private services will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Deacon John Carran will be officiating. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery.
