Ann Cherby was called home to her Lord as she slept peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 23, 2018. Ann would have been 104 in a few months. Born Ann Bernardelli Bailey on August 28, 1914, in New Castle, PA, she married Frank Cherby there in 1943. In 2003, Ann moved to Mays Landing, New Jersey to be with her son and grandchildren. Her eternal soul departed this life at Meadowview Nursing Home in Northfield, New Jersey where she had resided since 2010. She was a very popular figure at Meadowview, known and loved by the many friends and wonderful staff she met there over the years. They truly became her second family. She enjoyed reading and playing Bingo, and participated in the many activities at Meadowview, until her decline, which only began less than a year ago.

Ann will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. She was a kind and giving person who always and unselfishly wanted nothing but the best for family and friends. Ann and Frank's vegetable and flower gardens were works of art. Her son's buddies loved to visit, not to see him but to enjoy Ann's homemade pizzas, which were legendary.

Ann attended New Castle High School, and then worked for 11 years at the old National Pants Factory on Butler Road until her marriage to Frank. Frank and Ann were inseparable for over 55 years, until his death in 1997. They are survived by a son, Anthony (better known as Chuck), his wife Carol (Greene), four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her grandchildren knew her affectionately as “Grandma Ann.” Among her most prized possessions were pictures of them surrounding her at Christmastime and at her birthday parties.

In addition to her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her mother Maria, father Gaetano (Charles), an infant sister in Italy, and three brothers, Chuck, Lee, and Tony.
