Anthony M. ‘Tosk’ Toscano, 88, of Friendship Street, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at Carriage Manor Nursing Home in New Castle. He was born May 5, 1930 in New Castle, a son of the late Anthony and Marie (DiThomas) Toscano. He was married to Patricia A. (Lastoria) Toscano on February 19, 1955, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Tuscano was an elementary math teacher in the Youngstown Area School District retiring after 35 years. He received a Master’s Degree in Supervision and Curriculum Planning from Westminster College and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Era. Mr. Toscano was a New Castle City Councilman for 4 years and was the City Controller for 28 years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Catherine M. Toscano of New Castle, two sisters, Mary Panasewicz and Norma Fiorito, both of New Castle, two granddaughters, Alexis Maciarello and husband Jason, and Angela Audino, and one great granddaughter, Jocelyn Maciarello.
He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Louis Toscano, and six sisters, Lee Piccari, Caroline Toskin, Florence Yanucil, Maggie, Connie, and Antonette .
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Father Bill Siple of St. Vitus Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Parkside Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the cemetery.
