Antionette 'Ann' M. Hammers

Antionette ‘Ann’ M. Hammers, 82, of W. Cherry Street in Mahoningtown, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. She was born on March 2, 1941, in New Castle, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary (Effinite) Fontana. She was married to her late beloved husband of 49 years, Robert ‘Bob’ L. Hammers, who died January 16, 2012. Mrs. Hammers worked for Joseph’s Supermarket as a produce clerk until she started her family. She enjoyed baking, was known for her pizzelles, and above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Frank A. Hammers and his wife Beverly of Edinburg, and Rebecca A. Sallmen and her boyfriend Bill Stewart of New Castle, six grandchildren, William Penwell and his wife Mary, Brad Penwell, Alexandra Hammers and her fiancé Cole Malone, Joseph Sallmen, Josh Sallmen, and Danielle Annis and her husband Cody, and two great-grandchildren, Lily Penwell and Audrey Penwell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Kathleen Fontana.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, from 1PM to 2PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A blessing service will be celebrated Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon John Carran will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
