Carl R. Mefferd, Jr.

Carl R. Mefferd, Jr., 61, of W. Moody Avenue, died Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his residence in New Castle. He was born on February 26, 1962, in New Castle, the son of the late Carl R. Mefferd, Sr., and Roxine L. (Rozzi) Apicelli. Mr. Mefferd was a school bus driver for Butler School District for five years and was a cook for Lawrence County CARES Center. He was an avid Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Pirates fan; he was a great sports fan. He also enjoyed fishing, classic rock music, especially The Door, The Beatles, and Stevie Knicks.

He is survived by four children, Joni M. Gumpp and her fiancé Michael Chambers of Sharon, Jennifer N. Mefferd of Sharon, Carlisle R. Mefferd of Sharon, and Samuel J. Mefferd of New Castle, one nephew, Bryant R. Heath of New Castle, one great-nephew, Isaish R. Heath, and his former wives, Kelly Anderson, and Christine Mefferd.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Beth Ann Heath, and one nephew, Justin Thomas.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Lawrence County CARES Center, 708 W. Washington Street, New Castle, PA 16101. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
