Dale 'Butch' Wehr

Dale ‘Butch’ Wehr, 74, of Shenango Township, died Friday, November 22, 2024 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. He was born November 3, 1950 in New Castle, the son of the late Arthur and Bertha (Salony) Wehr. He married Sherry L. (Cameron) Wehr on June 27, 1975, she survives in Shenango Township. Butch was a house parent at the Youth Development Center in New Castle for 29 years. He then retired from the Lawrence County Jail as the Work Release Coordinator after 10 years. He was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Butch loved holding his Thanksgiving Day Dinners for the community at St. Joseph Church for 25 years. He also loved spending time with his family, especially with his four grandsons.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Nikki W. Christopher and her husband Gabriel ‘BC’, of New Castle and Alisa A. Best and her husband Dennis of Mercer, PA, four grandsons, Gabriel and Michael Christopher, and Wyatt and Hunter Best, four sisters, Barbara Saad and Ted, Kathy Sabrin and Jerry, Mary Lisovitch and Mark, and Susan Pietromonaco and Pat, four nieces and ten nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Vitus Church. Father James Downs will celebrate. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
