David G. Murphey

David George Murphey, 52, of North Mercer Street, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was born July 11, 1966 in New Castle, a son of the late Robert and Georgetta (Bok) Murphey. He was married to the late Lisa D. (Burkett) Murphey who died January 15, 2018. Mr. Murphey was a welder for over 30 years most recently working for Spomin Metals, Inc. in New Castle. He was an avid Steelers fan and an animal lover, especially his dogs. He also loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by two children, Terri Nicole Murphey of New Castle, and Devin James Murphey of New Wilmington, one step-son, Jason Burkett of New Castle, two brothers, Edward and Patrick Murphey, Sr., both of New Castle, one sister, Deborah Murphey of New Castle, and two grandchildren, Allyson Quear and Jackson Quear.

He was also preceded in death by his step-son Joshua Shaftic.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home.
