Dona F. Mccandless

Dona F. McCandless, 82, formerly of Franklin Avenue, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Quality Life Services in New Castle. She was born on June 23, 1940 in Johnsonburg, PA the daughter of the late James and Dona (Keller) Feronti. She was married to the late William C. McCandless, who died June 2, 2008. Mrs. McCandless worked at NOR-RIC & Connerly’s as a dry cleaner, retiring after 45 years. She was an avid Steelers fan, and she enjoyed playing cards. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Linda M. Whiting and husband Joseph, William ‘Bump’ J. McCandless and wife Valarie, Patricia A. Staph and husband Mark all of New Castle, and Jacquelyn R. McCandless and fiancé Donald DePalma of Conway, PA, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four brothers, Sam Feronti, Noel Feronti, Richard Feronti, and Thomas Feronti, and two sisters, Nicolina Stahli and Charlene Leidwinger.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald E. McCandless, one granddaughter, Kyleigh McCandless, six brothers, Chuck Feronti, Jimmy Feronti, Donald Feronti, Bud Feronti, Gene Feronti, and James Feronti, and two sisters, Lavonne McLaughlin, and Louise Feronti.

Private services will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
