Donald F. ‘Speed’ Halfhill, 71, of Green Lane, Edinburg, died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his home in Edinburg. He was born in Ellwood City on August 15, 1947 a son of the late Walter McCracken and Bernice (Bookamer) McCracken. He was adopted and raised by Donald E. and Margaret (Gossard) Halfhill, his adopted parents precede him in death. He was married to Michele (Janowski) Haldhill in 2003, she survives in Edinberg. Mr. Halfhill was a carpenter working out of Local No. 268 in Sharon retiring after 20 years. He was a Navy veteran serving on the USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier. Mr. Halfhill was a member of VFW Post 6233 in West Middlesex and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He also loved riding his motorcycle, he lived to ride.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Wendy Halfhill of Conway, PA, Dawn Halfhill of Conway, PA, Eric Haflhill of New Castle, Danielle Fruit of New Castle, Rochelle Ferlan of East Liverpool, OH, Jamie Ferlan of Warren, OH, and James Ferlan of New Castle, two brothers, Wayne Ritter of New Castle and Guy Ritter of Hillsville, five sisters, Carol Jenkins of New Castle, Glenda Covelli of Volant, Marlene Everly of New Castle, Beverly Joseph of Tennessee, and Darlene Smith of New Castle, and five grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Ritter and two sisters, Evelyn McCracken and Charlene Hawkins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.
