Edward Frank Vellone, 96, formerly of Woodrow Street, New Castle, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. He was born April 13, 1922 in New Castle, a son of the late John and Carrie (Masters) Vellone. He was married to Pearl B. (Rigotti) Vellone on September 22, 1945, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Vellone was a pipe fitter at Rockwell Axle retiring after 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army as a tank commander in Germany. Mr. Vellone was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, ITAM and St. Joseph Church and was an usher at the church for many years. He enjoyed golfing, carpentry and bowling and was a member of the Wabash Bears.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Carol J. Malizia and her husband Mickey of New Castle, one sister, Josephine Russo of Staten Island, NY, two grandchildren, Lisa Calabria and Kevin McKeever, and four great grandchildren, Miranda, Cre, Shane, and Faye.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew, Tullio, and Rudolph Vellone.
Private services will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
