Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania

February 20,1928 - April 25,2025

With immense heartbreak and sadness, we announce the passing of Frank Treccase, 97, formerly of Neshannock Township, on the morning of April 25, 2025. Frank was born in Casignana, Reggio Calabria, Italy.

At heart, Frank loved people, all people. His joyful, magnetic smile drew you to him. When speaking to anyone, his interest was sincere. This quality made him the best possible of professors, beloved by his students. He believed in the immense power of education, as evidenced by his humble beginnings. He was a lover of language and was happiest while traveling and encountering diverse cultures and languages.

For over 35 years, along with his beloved wife, Tina (who preceded him in death), he accompanied groups of travelers to Italy, sharing his love of his home country. In particular, he adored his native Calabria, which remained in his heart through the end. He wanted to return “un’altra volta” (one more time). He equally loved America, representing promise with its vision and ideals of a true democracy__for all. How fitting that Frank chose to leave this earth on this date, April 25___Italy’s Liberation Day.

Frank died peacefully and is now together with his beloved Tina.

He is survived by his daughter, Marialisa, of Pittsburgh, PA; his son, Domenick, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Danville, California; and his two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Dante.

Frank leaves behind numerous friends and relatives in Italy, whose heartbreak is compounded by distance.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for both Frank and Tina, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 9:00 AM, at St. Vitus Church, 910 S. Mercer Street, New Castle, PA, 16101.
