George A. Strayer

George Allen Strayer, 63, of Bartram Avenue, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home in New Castle. He was born October 26, 1954 in New Castle, a son of the late Marion and Martha (Rice) Strayer. He was married to Linda Marie (Boyer) Strayer on June 5, 1972, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Strayer was a self-employed painter for 30 years and he worked at the City Rescue Mission for a number of years. He enjoyed playing bingo, loved painting and collecting cans. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Samuel E. Strayer and fiancé Nicole Smiley of New Castle, George A. Strayer of New Castle, Belinda M. Strayer of New Castle, and Kenneth J. Strayer and wife Aimee of New Castle, two brothers, Paul Strayer of New Castle, and James Prescott of New Castle, two sisters, Dottie Ortiz of New Castle, and Martha 'Sis' Graham of New Castle, and eight grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, George A. Strayer, Jr., four brothers, Kenneth, Frank, and Wilbert Strayer, and Charles Rice, and one sister, Beverly Teuteberg.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 2 PM to 4 PM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Lt. Matt Stacy of Salvation Army will be officiating.  Burial will be in New Castle.
