Joan M. Sbarra

Joan Marie Sbarra, 72, of Savannah Road, was freed from her wheelchair and oxygen tubing on August 12, 2018 at her home in New Castle. She was born October 22, 1945 in Ridgeway, PA a daughter of the late Alex and Veronica (Copelli) Ruth. She was married to Anthony J. Sbarra, Sr. on January 4, 1975, he survives in New Castle. Her biggest joy was spoiling her grandchildren and pets.  She loved her family and her dedicated personal care attendants. She loved mowing grass, landscaping, decorating for Christmas, a neat and tidy house, and trips to Arizona and Las Vegas with her husband.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Theresa V. Derycke of Victor, NY, Brenda A. Luchs of Streetsboro, OH, and Richard J. Luchs and wife Carri of Rector, PA, three step-children, Melinda Funera and husband Michael of Hermitage, PA, Laura A. Stoss and husband Fred of Cheyenne, WY, and Anthony J. Sbarra, Jr. and wife Christine of Castle Rock, CO, two brothers, Donald Ruth of Lawton, OK, and Charles Ruth of Tucson, AZ, four sisters, Nancy O'Leary of Buffalo, NY, Cathy Zuchowski of Blairs, VA, Mary Sandy of DuBois, PA, and Linda Shatz of St. Mary's, PA, and twelve grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Arthur Ruth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vitus Church. Burial will be in the St. Vitus Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Jude's Hospital.
