Joe Surgenavic

Joe Surgenavic, 72, of New Castle, PA passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. Joe was born on July 16, 1952, the son of Stanley and Viola Surgenavic. Joe graduated from New Castle High School in 1970. Joe joined the U.S. Air Force in 1970 and served his country for 20 years. Joe was married to Shirley (Cratsley) Surgenavic for 43 years. Shirley preceded Joe in death on September 30, 2019. Joe and Shirley had two children together. He was employed for a number of years at Rockwell Spring. He was a member of the Labor Union Local 964. He was employed for 13 years at Westminster College where he ultimately retired to help raise his beloved grandson. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He cherished visits with his close friends. He especially loved attending his grandson’s baseball and basketball games, turkey shoots, hunting and fishing. Remaining to cherish Joe’s memory are his daughter Julie Surgenavic, his son Joseph (Ashley) Surgenavic, his grandchildren Joseph and Aubrianne Surgenavic, his brothers Stanley and Rick Surgenavic, and his beloved friends. Preceding Joe in death are his spouse Shirley Surgenavic, his parents Stanley and Viola Surgenavic, and his sister Rita (Surgenavic) Metz. Following Joe’s wishes there are no services scheduled. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
