John J. ‘Racer’ Jendrysik, Jr., 89, of Bluff Street, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his residence in New Castle. He was born in October 30, 1934, in New Castle, the son of the late John and Genevieve (Soho) Jendrysik, Sr. He was married to the late Helen M. (Bobosky) Jendrysik, who died on November 27, 2023. Mr. Jendrysik worked for Haney’s Furniture as a furniture refinisher for 36 years. He then worked for Shenango China and was an ACT’s bus driver, retiring after a number of years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish- Mary Mother of Hope, and the KP Club. He enjoyed wrestling, playing basketball, and doing word puzzles. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and will be remembered as a jokester with sarcasm.
He is survived by three children, Robert Jendrysik, Joni L. Barkasi and her husband James, and Kathleen McCready all of New Castle, five grandchildren, Patsy Bulisco, III and his wife Meagan, Kayla Bulisco, Zachary McCready, James Barkasi, Jr., Sarah Costa and her husband Michael, nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, James, Shaelyn, Mikael, Maverick, Ava, Keegan, Alexander, and Harrison, one great great-granddaughter, and one brother, Thomas Jendrysik.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, James B. McCready, and one sister, Dorothy Gorgacz.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A blessing service will be celebrated Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon John Carran will officiate.
