Joseph F. ‘Wamo’ Querriera, 73, of E. Northview Avenue, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was born on July 5, 1950, in New Castle, the son of the late William J. and Regina S. (Sylvester) Querriera, Sr. Mr. Querriera was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vitus. He worked at Penn Central Railroad as a yardmaster for 10 years. He then was owner/operator of Q’s Dairy in Croton for 35 years, until he retired. Joey’s grandson, Nico, was the light of his world and his life. He enjoyed flowering and vegetable gardening, campfires with friends and family, decorating his yard at Christmas, horse riding, hunting, jet skiing and sailing on Shenango Lake, dancing, listening to music, and family vacations. Joey will always be remembered for helping anyone at any time.
He is survived by one daughter, Monica Querriera, one grandson, Dominico Fanno, three brothers, Ronald Querriera and his wife Robin of New Castle, Richard Querriera and his wife Barb of Cranberry Township, and David Querriera of New Castle, two sisters, Patricia Miller and Rosemary Bonelli and her husband Gary both of New Castle, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, William J. Querriera, Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Father Ben Barr will officiate. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
