Kathy Jo Heckathorne

Kathy Jo Heckathorne, 65, of Ellwood Road in Shenango Township, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at her residence in New Castle. She was born on April 22, 1959, in New Castle, the daughter of the late Harold and Alma (Edie) Houk. She worked as a manager at Penn Power, retiring after over 40 years. She was a member of the Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was very active in the church and was a Sunday School Teacher. Kathy enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her ‘cousins’ group. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and above all, she loved spending time with them.

She is survived by two children, Andrew J. Heckathorne of New Castle and Rachel L. Matsook and her husband Patrick of New Castle, three grandchildren, Camden Heckathorne, Gabriella Matsook, and Jordan Matsook, and one sister, Nancy Hitchen and her husband Jack of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Melissa DoVidio, and one granddaughter, Olivia Rose Matsook.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A funeral service will be celebrated Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Pastor James Llewellyn will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
