Kathy J. Mcewen

Kathy J. McEwen, 73, of Smithfield Street in Union Township, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born in New Castle, on November 18, 1950, the daughter of the late Clifton and Jane (Goodwill) Beale. Mrs. McEwen married Francis ‘Ray’ McEwen on December 08, 1981. She worked at Hazel’s Restaurant as a waitress for 12 years. She enjoyed reading, watching tv, cooking and collecting recipes, playing Bingo, dancing, camping at camp and playing with the Nintendo Switch. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two children, Rae Ann Quinn and her husband Mike and Shane F. McEwen and his fiancé Heather Campbell all of New Castle, two stepchildren, Dennis R. McEwen of Pittsburgh and Daniel R. McEwen of New Castle, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and three sisters , Linda Krumpe of New Castle, Joyce Fair of Bradford, PA, and Dawn Jones of New Castle, and her dog, Lucy.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Pete Lingenfelter, and one brother, Jim Shugar.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.
