Mable M. Ruby

Mable Marie Ruby, 97, formerly of Harlansburg Road, New Castle, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle. She was born January 1, 1921 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Harry and Alma (Reed) Smiley. She was married to the late Charles W. Ruby, Sr. who died June 14, 1981. Mrs. Ruby was a self-employed beautician for 20 years, she also worked at the New Castle Public Library for many years. She was active in the Democratic Party and loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Charles W. Ruby, Jr. and wife Terry of New Freedom, PA, and Linda J. Kuentz of New Castle, one sister, Helen Audria of Levittown, PA, four grandchildren, Aaron Burr and wife Rebeca, Melissa Riley, Michael Kuentz and wife Monica and Jamie Heatwol and husband Jason, and eight great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Burr Riley, her son-in-law, Ernest Kuentz, and three sisters, Geraldine Menken, Virginia Calvert, and Wanda Allwine.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements are by the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
