Phyllis Jean Hooks

Phyllis Jean Hooks, 77, of Alborn Avenue in Shenango Township died Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at her residence in New Castle. She was born on March 15, 1946, in New Castle a daughter of the late Willard and Mary (Barris) Moore. Mrs. Hooks married James W. Hooks on June 5, 1962, he survives in New Castle. Mrs. Hooks worked at Lawrence County Humane Society as an office manager and worked in the delivery department of Hovis Supply for a number of years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting blankets, making and collecting dolls, making wreaths, and knitting sweeper covers.

In addition to her husband, she was also survived by three children, Scott E. Hooks and his wife Dawn, Richard A. Hooks both of New Castle, and Shaun L. Hooks of Sandy Lake, PA, fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, James R. Hooks, and two brothers, Kenny McCandless and Willard Moore.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
