Raymond F. Jones, 88, formerly of State Road 208 in Pulaski, died Saturday, February 24, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Care Center in New Castle. He was born on April 25, 1935, in New Castle, the son of the late Samuel and Christie (Holmes) Jones. Mr. Jones was a Spanish teacher at Ben Franklin and New Castle High School for 5 years. He then retired from South High School and Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, OH, after 30 years. He also worked at YDC as an interpreter and a counselor for troubled children. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Youngstown State University with his Bachelor's degree in Education, he attended Duquesne University, and he received his Master’s degree in Education from Westminster College. He liked to watch old movies, traveling, and he loved all his cats. He spent his last days at UPMC Jameson Care Center with excellent care.
He is survived by one brother, Ronnie Jones of New Castle, one sister, Shelvie Gagliardo of New Castle, 25 nieces and nephews, and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Cletus Jones, Donald Jones, Leroy Jones, Delbert Jones, and Maurice Jones, five sisters, Mary Cohen, Alfreda Klineski, Linda Younger, Pansey Monico, and Edith Jones, and four nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
