Richard F. Adams, 95, formerly of Johnson Street in Union Township, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Avalon Care Center in New Castle. He was born in West Pittsburg, PA, on October 6, 1928, the son of the late Richard Patrick 'Red' and Cecelia (Myszkauckas) Adams. Mr. Adams married Carol Ruth (Rashid) Adams on May 7, 1955; she survives in New Castle. Mr. Adams was a superintendent of building operations for the University of Alabama retiring after 16 years. Prior to that, he worked for Rockwell Axel and Columbus Services for a number of years. He was a United States Marine and Air Force Veteran of the Korean Era, serving in China, while in the service he played football and baseball for the miliary. Mr. Adams was an avid Alabama football fan, he enjoyed dancing, big band music, golfing, and bowling. He was owner/operator of Lincoln Knolls Bowling Ally for a number of years. He also was a baseball, softball, basketball, and football official for many years. Mr. Adams, above all, loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Richard ‘Rick’ F. Adams, Jr., and wife Debra of Simi Valley, CA, Kimberly A. Tanner of New Castle, Lory A. Hiler of New Castle, and Kelly A. Meggs and husband Gary of North Port, AL, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William'Bill' Tanner. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Parish- St. Mary Church. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Father John Gizler will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
