Roger Raymond Ferrante, 91, of East Edgewood Avenue, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his home in New Castle. He was born September 4, 1927 in New Castle, a son of the late Rizerio and Jennie (DeCristoforo) Ferrante. He was married to the late Dolores L. (Genovese) Ferrante on April 18, 1953, she died February 14, 2010. Mr. Ferrante was a retired shift supervisor for Penn Power, retiring on November 30, 1990, he retired after 38 years of service. He attended New Castle High School. He was a Korean War Veteran, and was attached to the Medical Corp as a Corporal spending two and a half years in Germany. Mr. Ferrante belonged to the St. Vitus Church, the Holy Name, American Legion Post #315 and the Eagles Club. He also was an avid golfer and a retired saxophone musician. After retiring from Penn Power he became a driver for Preston Motors for 19 years.
He is survived by five children, Annette Cannon and husband Keith of West Pittsburg, Regina Marks and husband Joseph of New Wilmington, Carmella Glass and husband Brian of New Castle, Roger Ferrante and wife Victoria of St. Petersburg, FL, and Douglas Ferrante and wife Joan of Dacula, GA, one sister, Norma Wise of New Castle, twelve grandchildren, Jamie Patterson and Mark, Nick Cannon and Nikki, Adrianne Bowers, Steve Schooley, Ryan Mitchell and Christina, Erica Richley, Brian Glass and Allison, Andrew Ferrante, Elizabeth Ferrante, Natasha Ferrante, Ashley Mullinax and Jacob and Alex Ferrante, and twelve great grandchildren, David, Luke and DeAnna Patterson, Evangelina Cannon, Kolby Schooley, Adaliena and Sienna Mitchell, Liam and Cadence Richley, and Sydney, Delaney and Sam Early.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Ferrante, his brother, Eugene Ferrante, and his grandson, Vincent Cannon.
Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Entombment will be in the Parkside Cemetery.
