Ronald (Gino) Davis, Sr., 88, of E. Hazelcroft Ave., died Friday, January 19, 2024 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. He was born in New Castle, December 4, 1935 a son of the late John and Rose (Albert) Davis. He is survived by his wife Eunice A. (Alex) Davis, August 29, 1992, who remains a resident of New Castle. Mr. Davis was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and an Army veteran who served as a medic at Ft. Knox, KY. Ron had a passion for politics, enjoyed researching his genealogy, and was a history buff. He was an active member of St. Elias Orthodox Church, including helping to bake Syrian Bread every week. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy (Buck) Davis with whom he co-founded St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church in Van Nuys, CA. Ron also had a delightful green thumb which left the outside of his home adorned with flowers and vegetables during the warmer months. From the earliest days of the computer age, Ron’s brilliant mind and his attention to detail provided rapid occupational growth. He effortlessly worked with industry giants such as Johnson Controls, Bayer, and NASA, developing software and providing technology solutions worldwide. Mr. Davis was Vice-President of Applied Data Research for 15 years, CEO of CapEx Corporation in Phoenix, AZ for 10 years, and Owner and Operator of Savant Technology Group for 25 years. His brilliant mind was only surpassed by his generous heart and the love he consistently showed for his family. He will be remembered as a loving, intellectual man who was always full of ideas and ready to contribute to the growth and progress of the next generation. He was lovingly generous with his time, knowledge, and resources. He loved getting to know people who surrounded him. Nobody left his presence a stranger. In addition to his wife he is survived by seven children, Ruth E. (Davis) Andrews and her husband Father Robert Andrews of Glendale, CA, Ronald J. Davis, Jr. and Jani of New Castle, Whitney A. Davis and wife Kim of Weatherford, TX, Lisa A. Moses-Allen and husband Donald of Austin, TX, Anthony T. Moses of Smithfield, TN, Stephen L. Moses and wife Cindy of Moraga, CA, and Robert A. Moses and wife Amy of New Castle. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his five brothers, Michael, James, Christopher, Peter, and Stutz Davis, and six sisters, Haifa Ellis, Fannie Barkett, Helen Orres, Smaya Shinn, Marie Bannon, and Carolyn Barkett. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the St. Elias Orthodox Church, 915 Lynn Street, New Castle, PA. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 12 pm with Father Kevin Long and Father Robert Andrews as officiates. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
