Susan M. Gardner

Susan Marie Gardner, 68, of South Jefferson Street, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born December 5, 1949 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Jerry and Sophie (Belak) Nocera. She is also preceded in death by her step-mother, Teresa (Petrilli) Nocera. She was married to the late Elmer F. Gardner who died November 1995. Mrs. Gardner was a unit secretary at St. Francis Hospital and Jameson Hospital retiring after 34 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and cooking and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by two children, Carl L. Gardner of New Castle, and Susan M. Kinsella and her husband Robert of Charleston, SC, two step-children, Joseph Gardner and wife Beth of New Castle, and John Gardner of New Castle, two brothers, Joseph Nocera of New Castle, and Sam Nocera of Niles, OH, four sisters, Mary Lynn VanEman of New Castle, Sandra Duffy of West Middlesex, Geraldine Latina of New Castle, and Sheila Turner of New Castle, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her step-daughter Vickie Stiles, and her step-son David Gardner.

Visitation will be held at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Blessing services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
