Sylvia M. Shoaff, 96, of Harbor Street died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at The Grove in New Castle. She was born on November 29, 1926 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Phillip and Minnie (Zeigler) Moore. Mrs. Shoaff was married to Charles Shoaff, who died May 28, 2009. Mrs. Shoaff graduated from Kentucky Christian College where she received her Associate’s Degree. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the New Castle News. She was a member of Shenango Christian Church, was very involved in the church and loved Gospel music. Mrs. Shoaff collected light houses, was an avid sports fan, especially the Pirates and Steelers, and above all she loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Doug Shoaff and his wife Carol of Wheeling, WV, Thomas J. Shoaff, Daniel M. Shoaff and his wife Renee, and Scott S. Shoaff all of New Castle, one sister, Janet Maple of Zanesville, OH, fifteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Sid Moore, and three sisters, Peg Fedore, Gladys Gibson, and Gertrude Park.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 12PM to 2PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Doug Shoaff will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
