Thomas Italo Amodie, 86, of Florence Avenue died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at HJ Heinz VA Medical Center in Aspinwall, PA. He was born in New Castle on October 6, 1936, a son of the late Italo and Agnes (Costello) Amodie. Mr. Amodie married Janice M. (Gillest) Amodie on June 8, 1957, she survives in New Castle. Mr. Amodie was the owner and operator of Amodie’s Barbershop on Mill Street, retiring after 50 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korea Era. He was a military contractor for the Army and Airforce Exchange Service, and he also owned multiple barbershops on military bases across the country. Mr. Amodie loved hunting small games such as ringnecks and pheasants with running dogs, photography, and was an avid sports fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Janet L. Geramita and her husband Frank of Rices Landing, PA, Marcie E. LaRuffa and her husband Tony of Fullerton, CA, Steve Amodie of Pittsburgh, PA, Ellie A. Lewis and her husband Max of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Vince S. Amodie of Pittsburgh, PA, and Aimee C. Amodie and partner Patrick Sullivan of Providence, RI, one brother, Guy Amodie and his wife Betty of New Castle, one sister, Joellen Riley of Rochester, NY, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, David Amodie.

A private memorial service will be celebrated. Burial will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue.
