Vernon L. Beighley, 74, of Acorn Street New Castle, formerly of Beaver Falls (West Mayfield) died on January 10, 2024. He was a son of the late Harry W. and Dolores P. (Carver) Beighley. He was born on June 8, 1949 in Beaver Falls, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Somma) Beighley who died on May 26, 2021, and was the proud father of Nicole A. (Beighley) Mitchell, of Bethel Park, PA, and Eric L. Beighley of New Castle. He is also survived by the love of his life, his granddaughter Karsyn Karole Mitchell of Bethel Park. Vern graduated from Beaver Falls Senior School in 1967. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Criminal Justice Center and the New Castle School of Trades. Vern was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam Era. He worked at numerous jobs in his lifetime, including Babcock and Wilcox for 18 years, Union Township Police Department as a Patrolman, he served as a Captain of Penn Security, Rockwell International Axle Division, Owner and Operator of Stooges Bar in New Castle, and was employed as Assistant Funeral Director and Funeral Assistant Supervisor for William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home for the past 14 years. He truly enjoyed being able to help families in their time of need and mourning. Vern was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, following the Steelers, Pitt Panthers, and Duquesne Dukes. He was an outdoorsman who loved water skiing, hunting, fishing, and played softball. Vern also loved restoring old cars, and was a former member of the Cruzin’ Dukes. He also loved to cook for family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue, New Castle, PA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel, 926 Cunningham Avenue. The Rev. Dom Cestrone will officiate. New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the Funeral Home.
